For those in the know, Look Productions began its journey many years ago, in the world of music production and performance. We especially enjoy having opportunities to collaborate with other creative professionals in various industries of multimedia production. So when I was asked to collaborate with renown writing team Billboard and Troublemakers studios to work on a new song for British recording artist Ellie Goulding, I jumped at the chance. I played acoustic guitar on her new song “In my city” off her latest album “Halcyon” which has just been released worldwide. Im really pleased with the final result and am looking forward to colaborating with these amazing artists and many more on projects to come!
Until next time,

In our everlasting search for camera supremacy, we have stumbled upon a hilarious, though interesting, video comparing the photo quality of the Iphone 5 and that of some very high quality DSLRs on the market today. Although this video is full of comedic debauchery, it does bring up some very interesting ideas. Today, we all have phone cameras and we tend to use them to capture anything and everything that we can. For most casual photography, the quality is quite impressive and often satisfactory, if not superb. However, professional photogs would not dare be seen using a cell phone camera for anything professional but honestly, why not? In the past few years, movies have been made with the Iphone and have garnered much attention on the web, due to their very high quality. Let’s not forget, today these cameras shoot in HD, something that wasn’t even available in pro cameras until several years ago. The bar is being set higher and higher with every new phone camera entering the market and we suspect that one day, the quality of phone cameras will rival that of todays high end cameras. Seem too far fetched? There are all kinds of technical reasons why that would be hard to believe but then again, science and technology are always evolving. Who knows what the future tech world will bring to the industry. This video touches on this issue in very entertaining fashion. We highly recommend that all you camera aficionados do check it out. Enjoy! Until next time, happy shooting!
Look Productions is proud to report that it is in collaboration with the MUHC and the Royal Victoria hospital to produce several videos to launch the annual “Dinner with Docs” campaign. For this production, we had the pleasure to work with CTV Entertainment Host Mosé Persico, who is the returning MC for the event and who was really great to work with. If you enjoy “Dancing with the Stars”, you will love what this evening is all about. Pick up your tickets today because last years’ event sold out quickly!
We hope you’ve all been enjoying your summer, we sure have! We’ve been hard at work producing work for our clients, while trying to find moments to enjoy the beautiful weather!
One of our most recent projects had us taking part in a joint venture with Citrus communications, as well as the Marketing department of the HFS elementary school in DDO, to rebrand and launch their new campaign for 2012! Over the past months, we have worked closely with the HFS team to create a video that captures the true essence of a school, one which has been an integral part of its community in DDO for decades. We interviewed teachers, parents, faculty and students and were touched by the warmth, academic excellence and professionalism that this school brings to each and every student. It was a pleasure to work with the staff as well as the students and parents and thus far, our video has garnered great feedback as well as a few happy tears from adoring parents and teachers! 🙂
Furthermore, Look Productions was also commissioned to set up a photoshoot for several students, some of whom were chosen to adorn the beautiful banners that have been hung up at the school in preparation for the campaign launch!
We’re thrilled to have taken part in such a beautiful project for such a special school that really believes in its slogan; “OUR CHILDREN FIRST”.
We hope you enjoy the photos & video! (Portfolio page)
In our everlasting attempts to keep up with the lightning fast revolutions of the video industry, we regularly come across a multitude of new products being introduced on the market. That being said, it has been a while since there has been so much anticipation for this next featured product: The Black Magic Cinema Camera. Black magic Cinema (BMC), a company better known for its high end camera accessories, has decided to make a very noticed entrance into the high end professional video forum with its introduction of its BMC camera. Sporting such incredibly attractive features such as:
2.5K Image Sensor
12-bit RAW, ProRes and DNxHD Formats
13 Stops of Dynamic Range
23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30p Frame Rates
EF and ZE Lens Mount
LCD Touchscreen with Metadata Entry
SDI Video Output and Thunderbolt Port
Mic/Line Audio Inputs
Records to Removable SSD Drives
Includes DaVinci Resolve and UltraScope
this little camera is poised to cause a huge ruckus when it is released at the end of July 2012. There hasn’t been this much excitement over the release of a new camera since the now legendary Canon 5D Mark2 was released about 4 years ago. (We would know because we’re big fans!). Even crazier still, is the ridiculously aggressive price point, starting at under 3000$! For a camera that packs features only found in cinema camera many times its low price, BMC’s camera has the necessary baggage to revolutionize the industry and bring Hollywood to its knees, as was the case with the introduction of HDSLRs. And to make the deal even better, BMC is even including “Davinci resolve” and “Ultrascope”, a software bundle that would normally set you back about 1500$. I think we may have a winner on our hands folks. The verdict isn’t in yet, but it’s looking very good for BMC’s first forey into this arena. We’re gonna wait and see how the camera fares once it’s released and if the reviews are good, I think we know what to get our Boss for his Birthday! 🙂
Look Productions was asked to capture moments of the incredible Nikki Yanofsky show last night at “Salle Claude Champagne” in Montreal. The show was great and we, as well as the audience, were blown away but the sheer talent and power of this very young singer. From the moment she walked on stage, until her very last note, she had the crowd in the palm of her hand. Pretty amazing to see and hear actually. Her band represented as well, dashing through a variety of musical genres such as jazz, rock, funk, pop and country, which kept the audience thoroughly entertained through a variety of dynamic and captivating twists. We highly recommend you check her out the next time she performs, you wont be dissapointed! Until then, check out select shots from the show on our Photography page. Enjoy! http://www.lookproductions.ca/blog-14-nikki-yanofsky-live/
As you know, Look Productions was privileged to be asked to contribute to the promotion of the first edition of the C2MTL conference in Montreal. We produced video content for the social media campain leading up to the event, in collaboration with Twist Image and Jimmy Lee. Now, with the event behind us, we thought we’d give you a little insight into our experience during the 3 day event.
Our first impressions: Awesome.
The C2MTL event brought so many incredibly talented people together on one stage, that it was at times too much to take in. From Fast Company, to Google, to Autodesk, Cirque du Soleil, Sid Lee, Moment Factory, etc, the A-list roster of trend setters was truly inspiring. Speaking with other participants of C2MTL, we found that the majority of the attendees were leaving the event with a new sense of inspiration in how they run their creative businesses. The numerous installations, eateries and lounges all over the site of the new city gas complex, offered a plethora of stimulating experiences for all the senses.
Look Productions was on sight taking it all in as well as capturing footage which we will be preparing a video piece for, to be released shortly…

For years now, Look Productions has been utilizing the latest in video technology. One of the main cameras we chose to use is the Canon 5DMArk2 for it’s amazing image quality, coupled with its compact form factor. This camera delivers incredibly beautiful images due, in no small part, to its full frame sensor and low light capabilities. For years now, this camera model, as well as several other DSLR cameras, have garnered much attention by the video community as well as, the hollywood film industry. These cameras have revolutionized the industry by bringing production costs down and allowing more people access to supreme video quality with a filmic appearance.
Recently, we posted an article on the release of the much anticipated 5DMark3, which packs even more features into an already powerful machine. That being said, like many new releases, there are often adjustments to be made to the initially released models and the 5D mark 3 is no exception. So far, a few issues have been reported but Im sure Canon will resolve them quickly, as was the case with the original 5D2.
Today, 4 years or so after its release, the previous generation 5DMArk2 is still making waves and impressing people everywhere. The latest demonstration of its prowess has been seen in the blockbuster hit “The avengers”, which has already raked in over 1 billion$ worldwide and is 1 of only 11 movie in history to reach that level of success at the box office. Although that’s an incredible feat, what we’re truly excited about is hearing that our beloved 5DMark 2 was used in several action and stunt scenes in the film. Now, for a film of that magnitude, their options for gear is practically endless, as is their budget to acquire whatever the director choses. For them to chose a camera that costs under 3K, is a pretty amazing thing, in our humble opinion. Confirming yet again, that these very powerful machines garner the respect of professionals and movie goers all over the world.
